However, the crates, which carried the furniture he sold in a San Angelo store, yielded precious materials from which he carefully constructed chests-of-drawers and other items to supplement his depression-era income. The lack of quality hardwoods never kept him from producing products of which he and his customers could be proud.

In 1946, after a shortened stint in the military caused by the end of World War II, Clarence came home to San Angelo to begin his professional career. With his long background in woodworking, Clarence and one employee opened a small shop to produce chests-of-drawers and ironing boards. Once the public determined his was a quality product, Clarence was forced to expand.

Moving to a small lot and constructing a meager building, Clarence discovered a new market. A spurt in the homebuilding industry followed the war, and there was a ready market for wooden doors. Terrill Manufacturing expanded again.

Expansion has been the story of the company ever since that day. From chests-of-drawers to ironing boards to wooden doors, Terrill has established a history of quality innovation in the building industry.

Today, more than 90 employees are at work in a 130,000-square-foot facility with state-of-the-art equipment, to produce quality architectural millwork and casework for schools, courtrooms, libraries, science labs and many other projects throughout the nation.
